1971 HQ Monaro GTS Coupe For Sale

If you have been looking for a HQ Monaro GTS coupe with low mileage in excellent condition, your search may be over. Currently showing 15,759 GENUINE miles, this 1971 GTS coupe is a true ''little old lady'' story. Located in New Zealand, first registered on 17 January 1972. Purchased by a 65 yr old woman who covered 15,500 miles by 1989, when at 82yrs stopped driving, giving the car to a niece to pay for her future education. Built at Sydneys Pagewood plant late 1971, a genuine 80837 featuring ''The Lone O'Ranger''(1822)paint, all as new white(flax)interior with black & white houndstooth cloth trim(18Y), no headrests (pre ADR changes), 253 v8, trimatic, 3.36 LSDiff, no power steer, single exhaust, factory radio and replaced redline E70x14 crossply tyres x 5 that have the correct red stripe but are not the correct type which were not available. Stunning in appearance both in and out, as well as underneath, it presents in 1971 correct finish. The car has been resprayed and its firewall is in Lone O'Ranger, not black. NZ assembled Holdens had their firewalls (and boots)painted body colour, so this mistake was made. The boot has been carpeted in black. This is how I purchased the car. Fully rebuilt in the late 90s, jig mounted and turned upside down, back to bare metal and repainted to the original colour. All original glass, panels, interior & exterior trim still on car, just the carpet was replaced. Matching numbers engine rebuilt and balanced, new bearings, rings, gaskets and hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel. The water pump was replaced. Alternator and starter motor overhauled, exhaust system replaced. Radiator replaced. The transmission has had new bearing seals and shift kit. The universal joints are new and the driveshaft is balanced. The rear end has new bearings and seals. The brake system is rebuilt. The glass has all been out of the vehicle, a laminated windscreen fitted and has new rubber seals as necessary. The bumpers have been replated, the stainless trim has been polished. The wheels were sandblasted and painted as original. Since purchasing the monaro in 2002, I have covered less than 100 miles, as I chose to preserve its mileage and protect it from any stonechips and general grime. As I own another coupe, plus HQ SS and other 70s holdens, I considered this a piece of art, to be appreciated for its exceptional mileage, and with striking pure white interior, did not want to mark it in any way. My aim is to preserve a special piece of motoring history. Now the time has come for us to move overseas, we will to let her go, hoping to find a good home. I feel australia is the best market for the car as its a model well known there, with people who can recognize and appreciate its authentic state and correct presentation. ( eg.The first HQ Monaros, prior to 4 doors, had no paint blackouts or monaro badges, just GTS) Suited to a collector, I will consider all realistic offers. I think you would struggle to find better. You will need to do your own enquiries as to importing the car to suit yourself, as the prices and services will be your choice, at your expense. Viewing of the coupe is possible and welcomed, fly over and test drive, until then I will leave you with these photos.
